One Of the best kept bass secrets in the Southern Cape is Botterkloof Resort, just outside Stilbaai. The farm, with its 10 chalets, is 6km from the beautiful surroundings of Stilbaai beach and is home to four bass dams. In three of them our guests are allowed to fish with the provision to return their catch. (Catch and release)

Botterkloof is blessed with three fountains, one of which is a seven eye fountain with sparkling fresh water. These fountains constantly feed the dams on the slope with fresh water.

The dams are inhabited with Black Bass and Chinese Karp who eat the grass. There are a lot of frogs and toads which are the primary food supply for the black bass. (We have also installed lights that come on at night supplying insects for the fish.)

Rainbow trout have also recently been introduced to the farm and roam the waters of our three dams. Rainbow Trout are a highly desired sport fish and a great catch for fly fishing or even live bait for those traditional fishermen. Trout can grow up to 46cm in length or more and the competition is on to see who can catch the biggest trout in our dams! A fee of R72-00 per kg is charged.

 

Whilst the men are fishing, the moms can rest on the benches or partake in the fishing. Kids are welcome to partake aswell, however if they wish not to, the jungle gym, trampoline and entertainment centre will provide hours of fun.
